Namdar came to the UK in 1979 and received his first degree in Microbiology from King’s College London. He did his PhD in Biotechnology at Imperial College, where he also did post-doctoral research on high temperature bioethanol production from agricultural wastes and residues, the work that he continues until today to commercialise at his company, Biocaldol. Previously he also worked on microbiology of industrial bacteria at British Gas, UK Atomic Energy Authority and for Shell Oil.

Has a M.Sc. in Food Science & Technology from the faculty of life Science at the University of Copenhagen and a Ph.D in Biotechnology from the Danish Technical University.

Currently he is working as Chief Technology Officer and is responsible for Technology & Business Development. From 2009 Rousu has been also Managing Director of Chempolis Biorefining Technology (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. During his whole career in Chempolis, he has been involved in the process technology development team. He has several publications and patents concerning environmentally sustainable processing of different non-wood and non-food raw materials into pulp, paper, bioethanol, biochemicals and energy.

Luis has been Vice President for Alternative Energies since January 2010. He has overall responsibility for Shell’s biofuels business, from technology and planning, to full operations. He also overseas Shell’s activities in hydrogen and Gas-to-Liquids development. Luis retained these responsibilities from his previous role as Vice President of the since restructured Shell Future Fuels and CO2 organisation, where he had been Vice President since August 2008.
Before joining Future Fuels and CO2, Luis was President of Jiffy Lube International (JLI) since 2005. Luis had global responsibility for Fast Lubes so in addition to making sure that JLI delivered an unparalleled car-care experience to its North American customers, Luis was also spearheading the expansion of JLI into China through a partnership with Shanghai Automotive Industry Sales Corporation.
As Vice President of Lubricants Latin America in 2003, Luis was part of the team that developed the strategy that led to the creation of Shell’s global lubricants business. In January 2004, he became global Vice President of Transport Lubricants.
Luis has worked in Shell’s downstream businesses for his entire 31-year career with Shell. Throughout this time he has held a variety of roles spanning lubricants sales, retail management, distribution, marketing, commercial and cluster management. Luis’ greatest passion is growing a business and he believes growth and increased value for shareholders is the prime responsibility of a business leader. A very close second is developing the people to achieve the first goal.
Luis holds a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Bahía Blanca in Argentina, an Executive Programme degree in Competitive Strategy from Harvard University and an Executive Business programme degree from the INSEAD Business School in France.
Though a native of Argentina, Luis lives in London. He has three children and loves snow boarding.

Marko Janhunen

Mr. Marko Janhunen is responsible for Public Affairs and Corporate Responsibility of UPM. He manages EU affairs, trade policy and public policy advocacy work in Finland, the European Unioin and globally. He also coordinates UPM's strategy on Corporate Responsibility.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Janhunen held a position of Vice President Communications and Public Relations at Botnia Oy, and was responsible for managing communications and public relations of a 1.2 billion USD pulp mill investment in Uruguay.
Between 1999 and 2006 Mr. Janhunen was based in Brussels, where he served as Director, Trade Policy & EU Affairs, UPM.
Mr. Janhunen holds a Masters Degree in Political History issued by the University of Helsinki, a Masters in European Affairs from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium, and an Executive MBA from the Helsinki School of Economics. He is fluent in five languages, having lived, studied and worked in Finland, Germany, Belgium, France and the United States.

Rodrigo holds a Magister Scientiæ Degree in Agrienergy. His areas of expertise are Agrienergy (biomass fuels), Agribusiness, and Agri Investment projects in Latin America (LATAM).
Prof. Rodrigo started his professional career in 1994 as a bank manager at Banco de Crédito Nacional - BCN, being responsible for the development of heavy vehicles leasing operations (airplanes, truck and bus fleets and construction machinery). After this experience in the Brazilian financial market, Rodrigo joined Monsanto’s commercial team in Brazil acting as Key Account Manager. In 2002 he accepted the opportunity to become Regional Sales and Marketing Manager for Nortox S/A. First being responsible for managing the operations in the south of the country, than accepting the challenge to run Nortox’s operations in the Brazilian new agriculture frontier, best known as MATOPIBA. It gave Rodrigo a full vision of Brazil’s agribusiness peculiarities. In 2006 Rodrigo started his own agribusiness consulting office and performed business plans and feasibilities projects for North American and European investment funds as well as projects for European private investors. In 2008 Rodrigo went back to the corporate world and joined AGCO. He was given the chance to work on the commercialization of tractors and combines. The only field of agribusiness he did not had the chance of working until then. In 2010, already holding his Masters degree and starting his Doctoral studies, Rodrigo concentrated full time attention to his academics researches and is now a full time Professor and Researcher at The Federal University at Tocantins State.
At this moment Prof. Rodrigo is dedicating himself in an important academic research entitled “Decision making in agricultural derivatives with time series forecast models”.

Since 1994 Lindstedt has been leader for projects regarding raw material and production of cellulose based ethanol in BAFF and responsible for the development of production processes together with BAFFs member organizations.
Senior Consultant and expert in projects related to Bioalcohols, Funded by the European Commission.
Current position for Lindstedt since 2006 is as Senior Project Manager in SEKAB E-Technology who should develop and commercialize the cellulose to ethanol process technology.

Hans Blaschek received his Ph.D. in Food Science (Microbiology), at Rutgers University in 1980, his M.S. in Food Science at Rutgers University in 1977 and his B.A. in Biological Sciences at Rutgers College in 1974. He presently serves as the Interim Director for the Center for Advanced BioEnergy Research (CABER), University of Illinois where he is responsible for leading planning efforts for the Integrated Bioprocessing Research Laboratory. In addition, Hans holds the position of Theme Leader of Molecular Bioengineering of Biomass Conversion Research Theme with the Institute for Genomic Biology. He serves as an Assistant Dean, Biobased Research Initiatives in the Office of Research, College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois. He served as the Interim Head of the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, University of Illinois from 2000 - 2002. He has served as a Professor of Food Microbiology/Biotechnology since 1991 in the same department. His research areas include: Genetic manipulation of microorganisms for biotechnological applications, examination of co-products as substrates for fermentation to value-added products and development of an integrated fermentation system for biobutanol production and recovery. Hans served for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as the Value-Added/Biofuels Panel Manager for NRI Competitive Grants Program from 1994-1995. He has also consulted with numerous companies over the years and has over 120 peer reviewed publications. Hans is the co-founder and CSO of TetraVitae Biosciences, a company that is commercializing the butanol fermentation using the solvent-producing clostridia.

Eelco Dekker is Chief Marketing Officer at BioMCN, the world’s largest producer of 2nd generation bio-methanol. After joining BioMCN in 2007, Eelco initially focused on securing sufficient biomass feedstock supply for the new plant. Today, Eelco is responsible for marketing and business development of bio-methanol in broad range of (fuel) applications.
Before joining BioMCN, Eelco held several marketing and sales positions in the chemical industry for more than 10 years. First at DSM in the Netherlands and later at Ciba Specialty Chemicals in Switzerland.
Eelco has a Masters degree in Business Science at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam.

A proven executive with more than 20 years of experience, Mr. Bivins is widely respected for his leadership and vision in renewable energy technology. He is formally trained in Nuclear Energy, Physics and Economics. He has over 8 years research and development of renewable energy solutions and is an well versed on the topics of Anaerobic Digestion, Combined Heat and Power Electricity Generation, Pyrolysis of Carbonitious material, Lift and Drag Wind Generation, Biodiesel, Ethanol and Solar Energy Production. Recently his services have been sought by the federal and state governments to lead roundtable discussions on renewable energy.
Mr. Bivins earned a Bachelor of Arts-Physics, Bachelor of Arts-Economics from the University of Louisville, 1989, Undergraduate in Nuclear Engineering from the Naval Nuclear Power School, 1980, Masters in Propulsion Engineering from the Naval Propulsion Engineering School, 1981.
Mr. Bivins is Founder and CEO of One World Clean Energy, Inc. The One World Clean Energy TM Integrated Biorefinery simultaneously produces pipeline-grade natural gas, electricity, biodiesel and ethanol, with no waste and near-zero emissions. The unique shop fabrication / modular construction technology is feedstock agnostic and grid independent allowing for operations anywhere in the world. Its products are cost-competitive with petroleum fuels. This modular design will be the foundation for future commercialization of the OWCE modules: Pyrolysis/Gasification of Carbonitious feedstock; Catalytic JP8/Jet-A fuels; Algal Energy; and Multi-Feedstock Cellulosic Ethanol.

He is a B (Tech) from BITS, Pilani, India and has experience in Jatropha plantations in India since 2003.He designed an innovative program of Jatropha plantations on community basis on community land wherein 30,000 hectares have already been planted on degraded hills of Uttarakhand. He headed the Uttarakhand Biofuel Board as Secretary General for a year since its inception and has also established a commercial scale 18,000 TPA biodiesel plant based on homogeneous technology. He has also worked on photobio-reactors for algae development in India. He is presently developing a commercial scale technology for conversion of low quality / high FFA feedstock to second generation biodiesel with heterogeneous technology.

Barry is an agricultural science graduate from University College Dublin and has a Masters in Environmental Protection from Sligo Institute of Technology. Prior to working in the specialist service Barry worked in the Teagasc advisory service.
